GolfCross Courses in New Zealand

Braemar Station

Braemar Station

Located in the middle of New Zealand’s most spectacular alpine country, the Braemar Station GolfCross® Course is surrounded by stunning vistas of Mount Cook and Lake Pukaki.

Duncan and Caroline Mackenzie run the Braemar Station GolfCross® course as part of their 63,000 acre cattle, deer and sheep farming operation.

Braemar GolfCross® course, stretched out over undulating high-country tussock land, is notable for two things — the pristine nature of the layout (not a cubic inch of soil has been moved to create these dramatic goals). And its extraordinary setting — Braemar represents big skies, spectacular alpine terrain and an unerring silence. Put the two features together and you have a golfer’s valhalla.

Braemar Station’s 63,000 acres on the eastern shores of Lake Pukaki have been farmed by Duncan and Caroline Mackenzie since 1969. Both keen golfers, their golf course began with just three holes set out round their homestead which they played with family and friends. It soon swelled to five and then nine before they adopted GolfCross® and laid out a new course with narrower fairways and challenging goal positions to suit the oval ball.

The ease of being able to shift goals or change the shape of yards allowed them to try different sites for the course before they came up with one that worked well and soon they plan to expand to a full eighteen goals.
